Spring is nearly here.

Spring nearly here, dry and cool, some flowers are appearing. What a relief. The flu, dragged by bees, pulled through a hedge backwards and generally feeling like death warmed up. What a nightmare, have not had anything like it in twenty years. No person should feel obliged to work or attend school with such an awful viral infection.  Many attend public places when it is so obviously a contagious risk factor. Anyway getting over it, glad it wasn't the Spanish flu! The climate is intensely cold for months on end, which was not always the case. Must be the magnetic shift and ice floe melting, adding to our woes. All the nuclear explosion tests and pollution is obviously causing some measure of damage to the atmosphere. Humans are so careless of their environment, now as with all things, the chickens come home to roost. Speaking of chicken, it is difficult to find organic chicken for the family, Supermarkets are truly failing customers. In fact, the term customer eludes the mindset, consumer is the buzz word of today. I assert myself as a customer, thank you. Organic food is my preference, in recognition of the true origin and design of nature.
In fact am trying to become vegetarian. Food choices are very limited in supermarkets, yet there is plenty of packaged junk on the shelves. It actually is becoming quite trying, sourcing real food. A feeling of dread, as it dawns upon me, that it is all processed and pesticides present. It is really going to have to be a shift to organic in a German supermarket and now going to attend organic  food markets. There is one not to far away, but a Sunday is not the most convenient day, for a market! It is all a matter of changing habits. Never thought, I would be so concerned about food. Having seeing my grandfather's farm and the production of food, it never occurred to me that anyone would treat it's production with such blatant disregard for human health and ecology. In the not so long distant past, food was trustworthy, now one is on edge, is it genetically modified? Is it pesticide free? What a nightmare, it is definitely Alice in Wonderland. The mad hatters running the show. And of course, it is not just food, it is a horror story concerning many Human Rights.

Nature inspires and it's beauty is our lifeline. the destruction of our planet and ecology is growing by leaps and bounds. It is terrifying what the corporate world and indiscriminate politicians are willing to do and not do, in pursuit of resources and profit. We all now need to find courage, the will to effect change. Some write, some protest and attend marches, but jokes are made about the valid concerns of populations. Worse still, some are subjected to harassment for the act of protest. It is a very serious break with the social contract. Many others are suffering nuclear pollution in absurd circumstances. One would think with all the technology and information available, green resources would be harnessed immediately, but not so, in some parts of the world. The war machine is of more interest to unethical investors, rather than human security and ecological protection. The ethical investors are threatened by this destructive mindset and the sooner they wake up to the fragility of their investment and the world, the quicker and the better, the unethical can be held to account. Hope I find the path to effective change, what works?, what doesn't?
My grandchild has to have a future as do all the children of the world, so honour bound to act. Many are aware and doing so much, can we leave them to it, without some effort on our part? No, we all have to be supportive of genuine efforts to uphold and protect Human Rights and the Ecology. Political actors are very disappointing, very narrow and ultimately, are not rising to the occasion. The time has come for demands to protect family, food, water, home, human rights and political and corporate accountability. Where is the law in all this? Where is the law to protect the organic nature of our plants, food, ecology, creatures, and human genes, themselves? The law is not good enough, then law will have to be there to protect what we inherited. The path through law is long and slow. Filibuster has no place in the law.  There we start.

Spring

Looking out the window today and saw a blackbird and a few thrushes strolling and hopping around the
garden. Some sunshine too. What a relief, am not enjoying the winter. This winter has been cold and wet.

The worse kind. Often wonder what it would be like, to live in the warmth, in some distant Southern Hemisphere. Anyway, so much , a myriad, of information and images on the internet. So much to see, so little time. Wonderful, that leading personalities are coming out fighting against fracking. Hope there will be justice for the families that have suffered or are in the process of suffering the outrageous fracking of the land.
Word treason comes to mind. To betray the health of a nation ,the ecology of the land, is a crime against Humanity. Ecocide is a matter that will have to gain it's rightful prominence and work is being carried out on that matter. To have to campaign for the protection of the people and planet, seems unbelievable, when all the research and science has been well developed on these matters. The spiritual side is so obvious too. Certainly mankind did not make the world. yet the arrogance of many has left others suffering and the food, water and land poisoned. It is breathtaking and shocking. So the more voices and the more acts in honouring the campaign, the better. We also owe a debt to the tribal and indigenous, many who suffered in the past and are today leading in the fight for the life of humanity and the earth. IdleNoMore are actively putting enormous efforts into the issues and are leading the way.

Today, mucking around as per usual. News about Fracking is pretty awful, it is under pressure, no pun intended. Apparently Insurance Industry are beginning to see the light. Amazing that such a process would even be considered in these enlightened times. So much scientific work ignored. Greed meets the greedy sensibility of others. It is terrible, the rough shod attitude in this day and age. The sooner, geothermal, solar and wind and wave power are harnessed, the better. Anyway lets hope for the best, as many organisations work on it. The young and the music industry want to live in their bubble, but that is not acceptable anymore. It is grow up, get with it and spread the word. Word of mouth is just as powerful. To become ecologically aware. If we want our planet and our children healthy. If we want our beautiful nature protected, it is time to speak the Word.

Nature is a musical note, to which we add our voice. Hope if anyone sees this, think of your power to pass the word. Every act is a political act, including the food, you chose to eat. The sense of empowerment in choosing to focus on GMO free food and in adding your voice to NO Fracking, is wonderful. It starts at the table, at the shop, with your children, friends. It's great. A simple act, support your health and your organic food supplier. As regards Fracking, all one can do is pass the word. Maybe more. Best of times, the worst of times. Hoping for the best.

The Second Sentence: Agatha Christie on the Creative Process

The Second Sentence: Agatha Christie on the Creative Process: There always has to be a lapse of time after the accomplishment of a piece of creative work before you can in any way evaluate it. You start...

Tuesday 1 January 2013

Hope I keep some new year resolutions, nothing will come of them, if I don't get a move on.

Weather is putting me off and my hatred of house work is becoming a passing phase, I hope!
The modern nuclear family is a problem for women. it's true the narrow focus on family, house and lack of proximity to the bus is a pain in the neck. driving everyone everywhere. Of course, talk about a bus, but like everything, is not forthcoming in austerity Ireland. Anyway, everyone is preaching rise above it, rise above it. If I had known then what I know now, my life would certainly be different. Anyway my daughters will be well informed. Not to worry, when the sun comes out, this country area is beautiful. The only saving grace is nature and man is hellbent on destroying it. In the resources oil, etc chase. It is so ridiculous, when there is nothing but wind and sun and tide all around. Wall St. investors chase profit and it is right under their nose for all to see, profit for everyone in a better life, quality of life and peace.

Then, we also have the thrill of a number of nuclear power plants across the Irish sea. nothing like living on the edge, is there? Seems the politicians can't lift their heads and smell the roses. Locked into their desperate money making schemes, which seem to have no good to offer future generations. The only conclusion one can come to about the unethical business and political leaders is, they have absolutely no imagination at all. One would wonder how they live, in their unimaginative little world, maybe like Lilliput. The bureaucrats, technocrats, a different name for them all, every week. ESM's and Emmm's, EFS's and any other combination of instruments to put off the day of reckoning. The life they aspire to, will be theirs. But there is a law of diminishing returns. This time the the diminishing return is the environment itself. now it is sacrifice zones. We might as well be living, in the times of Mayan sacrifice. People are left to live in areas where nuclear power is vulnerable to unbelievable natural disaster. When disaster, happens, the victims are dispensable in an over populated world. That seems to be the attitude, everywhere the industry goes.

Then we have fracking to add to our joy and GMO to bring it right home to us. This is our world to make profit as we wish. Serfs obey and then say, maybe not, thank you very much. Many are so busy working, trying to live and keep food and a home for their family. Having raised  my children, I know how awfully hard it is. Women today, can't run to the family farm and relatives for a break, nor gather farm produce to take back to the city. No, everything is in narrow focus. Anyway, the pesticides might be the death of you.
This is the problem with life today, it's a very narrow avenue and focus. I know it may not be true in other area's of the world, but the island life is narrow. The internet has given an opportunity to see and share stories and information, on life elsewhere. The unbelievable intrusion on land, extracting gas, without respect for the health of families, preservation of the land and water, is shocking. It is as if all environmental standards and human rights have been ditched with no remorse or consequences. The sixties and seventies were times of hope for some kind of a future but today's ethos is shocking. The Age of Aquarius was mentioned for some romantic reason, whatever it means, I hope it becomes a reality.
